Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - One suspect is custody and another is still at large after a reported armed robbery in northwest Spokane Friday night.

According to SPD, at approximately 9:43 p.m., Spokane Police Officer Stephen Arrendondo was on routine patrol driving on W. Francis. As he passed the Cenex Gas Station and Elgin and Francis, he noticed two suspicious people along the side of the store. When he turned around to investigate further, one ran westbound and the second ran northwest.

Officer Arrendondo chased the male that ran northwest.  This male then ran between some houses, where Officer Arrendondo lost him. At that point, Spokane Police then received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Cenex.

Multiple other officers responded to contain the area. K-9 Officer Paul Gorman and his K-9, Maximus, arrived and tracked the two armed robbery suspects. One suspect was located in a garage in the W. 2200 block of Rosewood. The firearm and other evidence was located in the W. 2100 block of Houston. The second suspect was not located.

Arrested for 1st Degree Robbery was Anthony D. Fuerte, a 21-year-old male from Spokane. Fuerte was booked into the Spokane County Jail. The suspect still at large was described only as a "possible black male" wearing dark clothing.
