Father Rescues Daughter From House Fire In Coeur d'Alene

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - The Coeur d'Alene Fire and Police Departments responded to the 2900 block on N Francis Street in Coeur d'Alene early Sunday morning to a report of a structure fire with a child still inside the structure. The police arrived on the scene first and observed the parent, an adult male make entry by smashing an outside window with the help of neighbors to enter the smoke filled bedroom of the child and make a rescue of the four year old child.

The female child was examined at the scene by paramedics and was returned to her family. The adult male was treated on scene and transported to KMC for injuries he received in the daring rescue.

Northern Lakes, Kootenai and Coeur d'Alene fire departments responded with 4 engines, 2 ambulances and a ladder and 25 firefighters to the scene. Fire damage to the structure was contained to the rear bedrooms while the entire structure was damaged by heat and smoke.

Police and fire investigators learned that only 2 people were home at the double-wide mobile home residence when the fire occurred. The fire began in a rear bedroom and the cause is still under investigation.
