It became evident by Wednesday afternoon that Mike Leach wants to beef up the Cougars' offensive line. Of the 23 prospective athletes who signed a Letter of Intent to play in Pullman, nearly a quarter of them had "OL" in the Position column next to their name. No small fact.

A total of seven offensive lineman committed to WSU, including two from the state of Washington. Sam Flor, a 6-4, 285 lb. lineman from O'Dea high school faxed in his letter, as did 6-5, 285 lb. B.J. Salmonson from Nooksack Valley High School.

Other lineman include Pierson Villarrubia (6-4, 275) from Mandeville, La.; Eduardo Middleton (6-5, 290 lb.) from Oceanside, Calif.; Nie Sale (6-4, 315 lb.), a well-recruited lineman from Los Alamitos, Calif.; and Sam Jones (6-6, 295 lb.) from Bear, Del.

The highest ranked recruit may well be Robert Lewis, a 5-10, 160 lb. running back from South Gate, Calif. He isn't a big back, but someone scouts regard as quick and fast multi-purpose back with good hands.

Half of Washington State's recruits this year are from California. Three are from Washington. Other recruits come from Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Oregon and American Samoa.

Scout.com on Tuesday ranked WSU's recruiting class as 57th among 120 teams in the FBS. They ranked them 12th in the Pac-12.
