SPOKANE, Wash. - A thorough investigation by Spokane Police Special Victims Unit (SVU) detectives led to the arrest, prosecution and sentencing of child daycare center worker 66-year-old Eugene R. Wright, also known as "Teacher Grandpa."

Wright, a former caretaker at the Head Start Program (Big Foot Child Center) on the Spokane Community College campus, plead  guilty this week to the charge of first degree rape of a child and was sentenced to 123 months to life in prison for his crimes.

The incident investigation started in August of 2010 with the report of a sexual assault involving a young girl attending the Head Start Program (Big Foot Child Center).
