Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Tree; Tree Falls On Woman In Downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - A woman was sent to the hospital early Saturday morning after an accident involving an alleged drunk driver.

It happened at the intersection of Riverside and Howard around 1:15am. Police say 29-year-old James Smith reversed over a curb and knocked over a tree that fell on 22-year-old Julianna Pena. No word on Pena's condition.

Smith was arrested and booked at the Spokane County Jail for Vehicular Assault.
