SPOKANE, Wash. -
The regular season is over for Whitworth, and now it is time for the postseason.
The Pirates start the Northwest Conference tournament on Thursday with a semi-final game against Lewis & Clark. A win would put them in the title game on Saturday.
Matt Logie, who is in his first year as coach at Whitworth, led the team to a 15-1 conference record this season, although he's humble enough not to hog all the credit to himself.
"Anytime you come into an opportunity like we had here at Whitworth, with an experienced team and a talented team, you hope you're going to have success early on," said Logie. "I think it's really a credit to our leadership within the program and the players collectively. This has been a ‘we' achievement and I have been very blessed in having been a part of it."
Logie was named the NWC Coach of the Year on Tuesday. Two players – Felix Friedt
And Idris Lasisi were named to the conference's first team. The NWC second team included the Bucs' Wade Gebbers, while Jack Loofburrow received an honorable mention.
