SPOKANE, Wash. -
Make no mistake, the Shock have a chip on their shoulder as they work though training camp this spring.
After winning the AFL title in 2010 – their first year in the league – Spokane made the playoffs last year, barely. They got pushed out in the first round.
This year the team is out to prove their title two years ago was no fluke.
"The offseason, you know, that was my main focus: to get back here," said veteran defensive back Travis Williams. "I kind of sense a little bit of disrespect from around the league."
"We have a lot to prove," said quarterback Erik Meyer. "We have a chip on our shoulder. Like a lot of the guys say, we're not trying to sneak into the playoffs. We're trying to win the division and we're trying to get there convincingly and do some damage."
The Shock begin the season March 12 against the Iowa Barnstormers. The game will be broadcast live on SWX.
