Walla Walla Sex Predator Qualifies For Release From McNeil Island
WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - A sex predator who was civilly committed after a series of crimes in the 1990s in Walla Walla is being released, with conditions.
John W.J. Keeney has been detained at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island since 2004. He has made enough progress that the state Attorney General's Office has agreed to allow him to live at the Secure Community Transition Facility in King County.
The Union-Bulletin reports Walla Walla County Superior Court Judge John Lohrmann signed an order Tuesday releasing the 36-year-old to the residential facility.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane police say a pedestrian is dead after they were hit by a car near 3rd and Liberty Park Place east of downtown Spokane Tuesday night. Neighbors in the area called police after hearing a crash, coming out to investigate and finding a person in the street. Two police officers and a loss prevention officer were shot at the home improvement store on Tuesday. One of the officers died and the other is in critical condition in the hospital.>>
