When Valley Christian took the court at State B for the first time on Thursday it was the first time they had played in the annual tournament in nine years. And then they won. On Friday they won again, giving them a chance at winning the 1B state championship on Saturday.
The Panthers show 37 percent for the field and put away Neah Bay 59-54 in a game that was went down to the wire.
Kolby Blew scored a game-high 20 points for Valley Christian. Craver Small added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bo Piersol had a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Knights had a 33-20 lead at halftime but squandered it in the third quarter by scoring just three points. The Red Devils built a 40-36 lead by the end of the third. The game went back and fourth, with six lead changes and five ties before Valley Christian put Neah Bay away with free throws.
