UPDATE: Spokane Police Investigates Gang-Related Shooting Of Adult & Child

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE FROM SPD: The Spokane Violent Crimes Gang Enforcement Team (SVCGET), working with SPD Major Crimes are investigating a late-night shooting that left two people seriously injured.

The victims, a male adult and a female child were shot outside a lower south hill home, SPD officers carried the victims to safety and they were transported to a local hospital. After an extensive search, the shooter is still at large.

Just before 9pm on Sunday 3/4/12, Spokane Police Officers responded to the 1800 block of East 4th Ave on reports of a man shooting another man in the front yard. The male gunshot victim ran to the neighboring house for help, and collapsed. 

A female child had suffered a gunshot wound inside the home.  

Patrol officers carried the victims to the alley, where medics were waiting. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and treated for their injuries. The victims are currently in stable condition. 

Patrol officers and K9 teams searched the area attempting to locate the shooter. As of this morning, SVCGET believe the shooting is gang related and are pursuing all leads.  Investigators feel this was an intentional shooting with the male victim as the intended target.

SPOKANE, Wash. - A 6-year-old girl and 23-year-old man were wounded in a shooting late Sunday night near Liberty Park on the lower South Hill.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer says both were in stable condition at a hospital. Police shut down roads in the area, checked houses and searched with a police dog, but they did not immediately find the shooter. Check back for updates here on KHQ.com throughout the day.

First arriving companies found heavy fire coming through the roof of the Shogun Restaurant and immediately began to attack the fire. (AP) - A 9-year-old boy died in an all-terrain vehicle crash on a rural road north of Boulder over the weekend.   The Montana Highway Patrol says the ATV went off Sloans Lane early Sunday afternoon and tipped onto its side. The boy was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.   His name has not been released.
