Grant County Investigators Looking Into Deadly House Fire South Of Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE, Wash. -

Grant County Press Release:

Grant County sheriff's deputies and fire investigators are looking for clues into what caused a house fire early this morning where a body was found inside.

Around 12:05 a.m. Sunday Mar. 18, 2012, Grant County Fire District 5 and Grant County Sheriff's Deputies answered a call for a house fire in the 5900 block of County Road J-SE, about eight miles south of the city of Moses Lake. Once firefighters had the blaze under control, they discovered a body inside the manufactured home. Although investigators believe they know who should have been living in the home, the condition of the body has made it difficult to immediately determine gender or other identifying features.

The Grant County Coroner has custody of the body, and the autopsy will take place early this week. The Coroner will release the identity of the remains once confirmed, and will also determine cause and manner of death.

The home was destroyed and the fire is under investigation. There is no preliminary information on a cause.
