Home Health Care Employee Arrested For Multiple Felonies

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Detective Spitzer from Spokane County Sheriff's Office Investigative Task Force concluded a lengthy investigation into a case involving a home health care employee.  50-year-old Deanna Purser had been providing home health care to the victim since 2003.  The victim's daughter was preparing her mother's taxes when she noticed her mother's bank statements were lower than expected.
 
The victim's daughter looked into bank ledgers and saw an abnormally large amount of money had been spent at the Liberty Lake Albertsons over the year.  Detective Spitzer's investigation revealed that from 2009 to 2011 approximately $31,762 in cash back from purchases had occurred.  Detective Spitzer also identified that between the same time frame $33,141 worth of groceries had been purchased as well.  Detective Spitzer determined through her investigation the 79 year old victim's average grocery bill should have been around $300.00 per month.
 
Today Purser was booked into the Spokane County Jail on 7 charges of 1st Degree Theft, 51 charges of Unlawful Possession of Payment Instrument and 51 charges of 2nd Degree Theft.

(AP) - Two Army captains who met at West Point have returned there to be married, in what is believed to be the first same-sex marriage of active-duty personnel at the storied New York military academy.    The New York Times reports Captains Daniel Hall and Vincent Franchino were married on Jan. 13. They're both Apache helicopter pilots stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - The woman critically injured at the Ice Ribbon in Riverfront Park last week has passed away, according to family.  Over the weekend, the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department reported the woman had passed away, only to correct that release and say she was still in critical condition.
