Spokane Sheriff's Office: 2 More Child Luring Incidents

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On Tuesday, March 27th, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a possible luring call near the area of 9000 N. Country Homes Blvd. Deputies contacted the complainant who told them her seven and eleven year old daughters went outside around 8:00 p.m. to take the garbage out.

She said they were having a difficult time lifting the lid on the garbage can so her eleven year old went to get help. The seven year old said a vehicle resembling a body style similar to a Pacifica Crossover stopped by her, told her they had five puppies in the car and asked if she wanted to come with them.

The seven year old told the deputies she screamed and the vehicle left. She said the vehicle was occupied by three boys and one girl. She told deputies they were all "big" like teenagers and that they were all wearing black masks over their faces.

Wednesday, March 28th, deputies responded to another possible luring call near the area of 12800 N. Dakota Road. Deputies contacted the complainant who told them his seven, nine and eleven year old children were playing in a dirt field near their house around 3:30 p.m. The eleven year old child contacted his father and told him a newer green Subaru wagon drove up to them in the field.

The vehicle was driven by a male subject and there was also a female passenger. The male driver of the vehicle asked the children if they wanted any candy. The eleven year old said he told the driver "no, you're a stranger".

The male asked if the kids would get into his vehicle and help him look for the puppy. Again the eleven year old told him no and walked away with his two siblings. The vehicle left northbound on Dakota Road.

The Sheriff's Office does not believe the events of this week are associated with the incidents in the City of Spokane Valley. These all appear to be isolated incidents with different suspect and vehicle descriptions.

>>>Parents are encouraged to continue educating their children of steps to take when approached by strangers.  If anyone has any information to any of these incidents they are asked to report it to Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
