
Often times when women talk about gynecologic cancer they mention cervical cancer. Actually, gynecologic cancer involves cancer of the entire female reproductive system; the cervix, endometrium, uterus, ovaries, vagina, vulva and peritoneum.
The Human Papillomavirus (HPV)is a type of virus that can cause abnormal tissue growth and other changes to cells within the female reproductive system.
Join us for the April Healthy Woman Program on Thursday, April 26th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Deaconess Health and Education Center. The featured speaker is Dr. Joel Webb, a Rockwood Clinic physician who specializes in Gynecologic Oncology, He will be discussing general information about gynecologic cancers including the association between HPV and these types of cancers. He will also give details about minimally invasive procedures available for gynecologic cancer using both traditional and robot assisted laparoscopy.
