SPOKANE, Wash. -
If all goes well, Whitworth swimming star Rory Buck will be competing in the Olympics in London this summer.
Buck and Bucs swimming coach Steve Schadt are in South Africa this week for the South African National Aquatics Championships, the contest the country will use as its Olympic trials for swimming.
In order to qualify for his native country, Buck will have to finish in the top two in his events – the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke.
"Rory's training has gone well the last couple of weeks," said Schadt in a story posted on WhitworthPirates.com. "Rory has some substantial time to drop to make his Olympic team, but he's made big time drops before so it's doable."
