SEATTLE, Wash. – After being shut out last night by Oakland, the Mariners turned the tides on the Athletics defeating them 4-0 on the strength of big nights from Starting Pitcher Hector Noesi and Jesus Montero.

Montero, riding a seven game hit-streak, extended that streak with a one out solo home run in the second inning, giving Seattle the lead 1-0.

In the sixth inning with one out Brendan Ryan and Chone Figgins both singled, Dustin Ackley was then walked to load the bases. After an infield pop out by Ichiro Suzuki, Justin Smoak was walked, bringing in Ryan. Montero kept his hot bat going with a two RBI double scoring Figgins and Ackley, Smoak was thrown out at home.

Coming off a shaky outing against the Texas Rangers in his last start, Noesi was stellar for the M's pitching a shut out for eight innings allowing five hits and striking out six.

Tomorrow is Jackie Robinson day in the MLB as the Mariners and Athletics will fight for a series win at 1:10 p.m.
