Spokane jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 4:04 into the game when Steve Kuhn scored his 4th goal of the playoffs from Blake Gal. It was Kuhn's second goal in his last 3 games. Tri City evened the contest at one on Patrick Holland's rebound at 13:33 of the first period.

The Chiefs Reid Gow would score his second goal of the playoffs just 41 seconds into the second period from Mike Aviani and Tanner Mort to lift Spokane to a 2-1 lead.
