SPOKANE, Wash. - A Spokane man was sitting at home last night, when there was a pounding on his door from a man saying he was delivering a pizza. But there was one big problem - he never ordered one.
Not only did David Mariscal not order a pizza, the man standing on his E. Rockwell porch didn't have one to deliver, and his only identification was a hat that said 'pizza' on it.
Now, Mariscal is worried it may be a scam.
Mariscal says when he told the man he didn't order a pie, the man said he had the wrong house and left. But when Mariscal thought something didn't add up, he came outside, and saw the man running down the street.
He called CrimeCheck, and was told he wasn't the only person in that area who reported the so-called 'Pizza Man,' and Mariscal thinks he really came to the door not to make a delivery, but to take one.
"Probably to see if we were home, to break in or whatever. Because it was a real hard, hard, knock," Mariscal explained. "You don't answer the door, they figure nobody's home, they're going to come in."
The man did not have a visible weapon, and never tried to force his way in. But the lesson here is always keep your doors locked.
Mariscal says the man looked to be white, in his mid to early 20's, with blonde hair and about 5'10-11". He was wearing a dark shirt and pants.
