The offense has long been the talk of the town in Cheney – from running back Taiwan Jones two years ago, to quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell and all of his awards last season. This year, though, the excitement centers around the defense.

In Eastern Washington's scrimmage last week, it was the oft-forgotten defense that held the Eagles' potent offense in check. And that's no small feat.

"The defensive line has been playing great," said receiver Greg Herd. "Offensively, as a receiver you don't like that too much, but seeing those guys on my team I really appreciate it. They're getting in the backfield fast, making plays, they're "collisioning"-up everyone, so they're playing really well."

"We're coming together these last few weeks, so we're just bringing it all together for fall," said touted transfer from the Washington Huskies, Andru Pulu.

The Eagles have one more week of spring practice. They wrap things up next Saturday with the Red and White Scrimmage. The game, on April 28, can be seen on SWX and SWXRightnow.com.
