Thousands of people decided to celebrate Earth Day by running for a cause.

Sunday was the 7th annual Susan G. Komen Eastern Washington Race for the Cure, and it took place through the streets of downtown Spokane.

Right at 9:00am thousands of men, women, kids, adults, survivors and supporters embarked on the three mile trek.

Organizers had a goal of raising $500,000 dollars this year, and the best part about the fundraiser: 75% of the proceeds stay right here in Eastern Washington and the remainder goes to a national fund for breast cancer research.

Congratulations to all the runners walkers and supporters of today's events

If you have any pictures of the race you'd like to submit, send them into pix@khq.com

They are relatives of the common cattle and perhaps bison that diverged some one to five million years ago. Most yaks are domesticated now.>>
