SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The new head of Spokane Public Schools, Shelley Redinger, will be paid $240,000 in pay and benefits, about $17,000 more than her predecessor.
Redinger, who is currently the superintendent of the Spotslyvania Co. School District in Fredericksburg, Virginia - a district of about 24,000 students - has been chosen to replace retiring school superintendent Nancy Stowell, whose last day is June 30.
Based on the most recent data, the highest-paid superintendent in Washington is paid $362,914 to lead the Lake Stevens School District. The second-highest-paid was the leader of Seattle schools, at $295,792, the Spokesman-Review reported.
Redinger's first day with SPS will be July 1st.
