Down two games to one, the Tri-City Americans have their backs against the wall in their playoff series with Portland.
The Ams and Winterhawks square off Wednesday in Game 3 of the series.
As to be expected, each series has gotten progressively more difficult for the Americans. They swept Everett in the first round but needed seven games to dispose of the Spokane Chiefs. Now down 2-0 in the series with Portland, they desperately need a win if they want to bring the series back to the Toyota Center.
"It's going to be huge, you know, that first goal and the first couple of shifts is going to be huge to set the tone for the rest of the way," said the Ams' Derek Ryckman. "We have a lot of character on this team to come back from a deficit – like the games in Spokane. We were down in goals going into the third with ten minutes left and we came out with a win. So, it's going to take a lot of hard work and character, but I think we can do it."
