SPOKANE, Wash. -

Eastern Eagles and their quarterback transfer Kyle Padron got good news on Wednesday. The NCAA granted the transfer from Southern Methodist a medical hardship exception.

The ruling means he will be able to play two seasons at EWU instead of one.

Padron told SWX he plans on enrolling at EWU in summer so he can participate in fall camp.

After setting passing records two seasons ago at SMU, Padron suffered a herniated disc while lifting weights. He played only a few downs for the Mustangs last year and is ready for a fresh start at Eastern Washington with new teammates.

"I'm still trying to control the things I can control," Padron told SWX on the phone Thursday night. "Once I get up there [to Cheney] it's all football and class, it's all business…. I'm really excited to get up there and contribute."

Eastern Washington cannot comment about Padron's status until he enrolls in classes.
