
SPOKANE, WA -- The 4A Top-Seeded Mead Panthers defeated the 2-Seeded Gonzaga Prep Bullpups 5-3 in game one of the best-of-three series on Tuesday night at Avista Stadium. Mead's Nick Sagendorf got the win with his 10 strikeouts and struck out the side in the 7th inning. Game two is set for Thursday at 7pm.
Earlier in the day, the 3-seeded Ferris Saxons went on to beat the 4th seed, Central Valley, 3-0 in game one of the best-of-three series. Travis Key homered in the 1st to put the Saxons up 1-0 and they never looked back. Michael Renner secured the win for Ferris.
In the 3A ranks, the University Titans and Shadle Park Highlanders split their doublerheader. Shadle Park took game one, 3-2 after a 2-run comeback in the 7th. However, the Titans grabbed game two, 12-3 after posting a 9-run 5th inning.
