OSBURN, Wash. - Wednesday marks the 40th Anniversary that 91 miners were killed in a fire at the Sunshine Mine. It is considered as one of the worst mine tragedies in Idaho history.
An annual ceremony was held at the Sunshine Mine Memorial on Wednesday, honoring those men that lost their lives. Several hundred people were on hand to watch the ceremony. Ninety-one helmets were placed on empty chairs and each man's name was read and their headlamps were extinguished.
