Police Identify Body As Former TV Star

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Authorities in north Idaho say they have identified the body of a man found last week by turkey hunters as former television personality Wayne Shannon.

Investigators say evidence gathered at the scene suggests the 64-year-old Shannon took his own life.

Shannon was a reporter in the San Francisco area in the 1980s when he worked for KRON-TV. He also began working at CNBC in 1989 and had recently been living in Lewiston.

His body was discovered Saturday by a pair of turkey hunters on a property near White Bird, and at the time investigators believed it had been there for several months.

An autopsy found no signs of physical trauma, but the coroner is awaiting results from toxicology testing.
