SEARCH FOR A KILLER: Co-Workers In East Wenatchee Remember Sharlotte McGill

Posted: Updated:

EAST WENATCHEE, WASH. - Sharlotte McGill hadn't even lived in Spokane a year. In fact, last May she was named the employee of the month at the East Wenatchee Costco.

"It was just amazing what she did bringing in new customers for us," former co-worker Reida Jones said. "She was like the best in the district, best in the state."

It is for that reason Jones was not surprised when McGill got the top honor for an employee last May, but when she got a call last week saying McGill had been murdered, surprised doesn't begin to describe her emotions.

"I just like no, no," Jones said. "It's tragic. How could something like that happen to someone so nice."

It was her smile and infectious laugh co-workers still remember today and Annette Hacker knows the membership desk, where McGill worked, will never be the same.

"Sharlotte's the type of person you remember," Hacker said. "She was the life of this place right here."

For so many, that is why this murder is so hard to fathom.

"This is a tragic, tragic death that she did not deserve," Hacker said. "We need to find the person that did this and make some kind of sense of it because it could happen to anyone.....anyone."
