FRISCO, Tex. – The Sounders defeated FC Dallas 2-0 on the strength of a two-goal night from Fredy Montero to give Seattle their fifth consecutive win.

The game was scoreless up until the 68-minute mark when Montero slipped through two defenders and struck the ball from the right side of the box into the right corner past the goalkeeper for a goal assisted by Cordell Cato.

About three minutes later, an Alex Caskey pass was deflected by a Dallas defender into a contested sliding Montero, who headed it in for his second goal of the night and third of the season.

Montero didn't start the game as he replaced Mauro Rosales in the second half.

Seattle had three shots on target to Dallas' five, but goalkeeper Bryan Meredith saved all five while Kevin Hartman managed one.

The Sounders had 16 fouls on the night with four players getting yellow cards (Marc Burch 30', Jeff Parke 42', Zach Scott 75', Montero 81'). FC Dallas had 11 fouls with George John getting a yellow card at the 57 mark.

The Seattle Sounders (7-1-1) will head back to the Emerald City to host Real Salt Lake this Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
