SPOKANE, Wash. - The man responsible for a recent string of supermarket robberies in the Spokane area is now in custody. 38-year-old Daniel Drake has been arrested on four counts of 2nd degree robbery.
With the help of a surveillance photo, authorities were able to identify and apprehend Drake who is suspected of three Safeway store robberies, and one robbery at Rosauers.
There was no immediate word on where Drake was arrested or how he was caught. Look for updates throughout the day on KHQ.com, including NewsBreaks streaming live at 10 a.m., Noon and 2 p.m.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:On Wednesday, May 2nd, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a robbery at Safeway located near the 14000 block of East Sprague in Spokane Valley. The suspect entered the business and contacted an employee working at the customer service counter. The employee described the suspect as a white male, in his 30's, short hair with a medium build.
The suspect placed a backpack on the table and ordered the employee to fill the bag with money. The employee was under the impression the suspect had some type of weapon inside the bag.
The suspect fled the business. A short time later detectives located his discarded clothing. Major Crimes Detectives traced the clothing items and located a video of a possible suspect. The attached pictures are believed to be of the suspect before the robbery.
On Monday, May 7th, Spokane Police responded to a similar robbery at a Shadle ParkNeighborhood Safeway at 2:30pm. Safeway employees were confident the suspect matched the previous robbery suspect descriptions. The white male fled the area and police were unable to locate him.

Spokane Police are looking for a man who was involved in a robbery at the Shadle Park Safeway Monday afternoon.
According to police, the man walked into the Safeway, told customer service he had a weapon and demanded money. He received an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene.
Police say the man is white, in his 30's, wearing a green shirt and brown shorts.
Police also believe this may be the same man who robbed two other Safeways recently; one in Spokane Valley and one on Hamilton & Mission.
