Memorial Established for Kala Williams

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. – While police work to find Kala's killer, her family and friends gathered at the site her body was found to leave a cross, flowers and pictures in her memory.

It was Sunday afternoon, when boys walking through the woods off 14th & Milton in Spokane found human remains.  The remains were identified as those of Kala Williams, who had been missing for a month.

The major crimes team of the Spokane Police Department is investigating the homicide; but right now, there are no suspects in the case, and the medical examiner has not established an official cause of death.

Friday evening, Kala's father Jack Williams, broke down in tears, remembering his daughter's laugh, running Bloomsday with her, watching her play softball, teaching her to drive, and watching her grow.

But at only age 20 – Kala's life was cut very short.

Jack Williams says the family plans to hold a service June 2nd at Polly Judd Park.  Kala's ashes will be spread with her grandfather's at a family property near Colville.

While there are still many unanswered questions surrounding her death, Kala's family hopes that people passing by the engraved cross and brightly colored flowers will remember the girl they love, the girl they'll miss terribly.
