ARLINGTON, Tex. – The Mariners used a six hit and six-run eighth inning to pull away from the Rangers in a 10-3 victory Tuesday night.

Elvis Andrus doubled to deep right with one out in the first and moved over to third on a wild pitch. He then scored on a groundout to first by Josh Hamilton.

With two outs in the second, the Mariners took the lead with a homer to center by John Jaso that also scored Justin Smoak to make the score 2-1.

Brendan Ryan ripped a one out double and Dustin Ackley walked in the top of the fifth. The two executed a double steal while Alex Liddi struck out putting runners on third and second with two outs. Texas intentionally walked Ichiro Suzuki to load the bases and Jesus Montero hit a grounder that Adrian Beltre made a diving stop for, but overthrew the ball to first allowing Ryan and Ackley to score.

The Rangers loaded the bases in the fifth with one out on a Mike Napoli walk, Yorvit Torrealba single and Craig Gentry walk. Jason Vargas then induced a ground ball by Ian Kinsler and Ryan made a quick turn to Ackley for a double play to get out of the jam.

Andrus hit a leadoff single in the sixth and Hamilton brought him again, this time crushing a shot to center field to narrow the score to 4-3.

In the seventh, Ackley hit an infield single and after a Mike Carp strikeout Ichiro singled to center. Montero hit a liner to right field, but Nelson Cruz robbed him with a diving catch and got the ball over to second to get Ackley for an inning-ending double play.

Kyle Seager missed a home run by about a foot as the ball struck the top of the wall in right center field, allowing him to coast in for a leadoff double in the eighth. Smoak hit a single over the head of Beltre into left field to put runners on the corners. Jaso hit a single through the right side to score Seager. Reliever Mike Adams came in for Texas and Michael Saunders hit a single just out of reach of a diving Kinsler, loading the bases with no outs for Seattle. Ryan worked into a full count and on the ninth pitch of the at-bat hit a dribbler to Andrus who bobbled the exchange allowing a run to score. Ackley singled to right to rotate the runners once again and score Jaso. Carp hit a liner to right that dropped in front of Cruz for another RBI single for the Mariners. Ichiro flew out to right and Ryan outran the throw home for another run. Montero grounded out to shortstop to move the runners over for a second out. A wild pitch allowed Ackley to come in to cap off a six-run inning to make the score 10-3.

Jason Vargas went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Relievers Shawn Kelley, Lucas Luetge and Tom Wilhelmsen shutout Texas for the remainder of the game with just Kelley giving up a hit.

Scott Feldman pitched 4 and 2/3 innings giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits. Alexi Ogando and Adams each gave up three runs with Ogando giving up four hits and Adams surrendering three as he didn't record an out.

After taking the last series against the Rangers, the M's have a shot at making it two straight series victories against Texas with the rubber match set for tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. PT.
