SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Firefighters are responding to an extrication call at the intersection of Cataldo and Hamilton near Gonzaga.

Spokane Police and Firefighters were called to motor vehicle accident just after 2:00pm Monday afternoon. The driver of the car hit a utility pole which caused downed power lines, which delayed crews from being able to extricate the driver. Avista arrived on scene and was able to de-energize the lines while crews got the driver out. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

North and southbound lanes are blocked, though we are told the southbound lanes should open up at about 3:20pm and the northbound lanes shortly thereafter.

Originally Avista reported over 600 customers without power, but that number was quickly diminished to less than five.
