Delivery To Rep. McMorris Rodgers' Colville Office "Referenced" Chemicals

COLVILLE, Wash. Stevens Co. fire crews on Friday afternoon responded to a report of a possible chemical substance in an item or items mailed to Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers' office in Colville. McMorris Rodgers was not in her office, but she is in eastern Washington, according to her press secretary, Riva Litman.

Litman told KHQ there was no apparent substance in the deliveries, however a letter "referenced" a chemical. Capitol Police personnel who accompany McMorris Rodgers away from Washington, D.C., are currently investigating.

KHQ's Dylan Wohlenhaus reports that at around 12:30 p.m. a staffer in McMorris Rodgers' office went next door to 'West Side Pizza' to report the incident. Two employees and their customers evacuated the restaurant. It re-opened for business at 2:30. McMorris Rodgers' office closed for the remainder of the day.

Colville Police confirm that three different envelopes were sent to McMorris Rodgers' office. Law enforcement has now determined this to be a non-credible threat.

Dylan Wohlenhaus will have a live report on KHQ Local News at 5.
