SPOKANE, Wash. - The man who police say shot and injured two Spokane County Sheriff's deputies in North Spokane Tuesday was recently indicted on federal drug charges, according to our partners at The Spokesman-Review.
Charles R. Wallace was allegedly connected to a heroin distribution ring that investigators believe supplied at least 100 grams of the drug.

Wallace was most recently charged with conspiracy to distribute a pound or more of heroin. He was arrested in April and had a status hearing on Monday for which he never showed up.
Wallace's criminal history is extensive. He was convicted of 15 felonies, including two counts of attempt to elude law enforcement, one count of third degree assault, one count of second-degree escape, two counts of first-degree malicious mischief, one count of second-degree burglary, one count of second-degree theft, one count of forgery, and one count of possession of stolen property, one count of possession, and multiple drug charges. He was also convicted of four gross misdemeanors - driving under the influence, two convictions of driving while under the influence, and one conviction of theft. Wallace's criminal record continues with 3 convictions of misdemeanors - negligent driving, and two third-degree driving while his license was suspended or revoked.
Wallace was arrested in April and was facing federal drug charges. He had a status hearing on Monday, and he never showed up.
The Spokane County Sheriff, Ozzie D. Knezovich, confirmed that Wallace turned the gun on himself and died.
