UPDATE: Police Activity On Ramsey Rd. In Coeur d' Alene

COEUR DALENE, Idaho - A Coeur d'Alene man is now facing two counts of shooting into an occupied residence (felony) and one count of Aggravated Assault (felony) in connection with the shooting that occurred at 2:30 am Thursday morning in the 700 block of 3rd St.  The residence he shot at is the home of his ex-girlfriend.

The Multi agency SWAT team took Zebulon R. Batke, 33, into custody at 1:50pm Thursday afternoon. 

According to law enforcement, Coeur d'Alene Police and the SWAT team had surrounded Batke's residence in the 3800 block of Ramsey Rd. for several hours in an attempt to get him to comply with lawful orders before breaching the door to his apartment.

Batke was found inside the residence asleep in his bedroom. He had barricaded himself in his room. He was armed with a fully loaded AK 47 assault rifle, a loaded 357 Mag. and a single shot shotgun.

UPDATE: When the SWAT team entered the suspect's apartment they found him sleeping. A  high powered assault rifle was also found. The suspect is now being questioned. So far there have been no charges.

UPDATE: We're learning that a 33-year-old man has barricaded himself in an apartment kitchen in the 3800 block of Ramsey Rd. Apparently this is related to a firing of a gun at 3rd and Foster at 2:30 this morning. Stay tuned for more details.

COEUR d' ALENE, Idaho - Coeur d'Alene Police officers are staged in the 3800 block of Ramsey Rd. for a possible weapons offense.

Officers have contacted residents in the apartment complex and asked them to evacuate. Authorities report that if residents choose to stay in their apartment then they are asked to keep the door and windows locked until this police action is resolved.

Area businesses and daycares have been notified to lock down.

Air One is circling the area as a precaution.
