Police In Bonner County Searching For Missing Spokane Rafter

Posted: Updated:
BONNER COUNTY, Idaho - Police in Bonner County are searching for a missing Spokane man who disappeared while rafting Priest River on the Fourth Of July.

Officials with the Sheriff's department say the man was rafting in a single-person raft with two other people who were in a two-person raft around 3:00pm Wednesday afternoon on Priest River near the Dickensheet Bridge. The rafters went through some rapids and when they came out the other side, they saw the empty single-person raft and some debris float by. The two kayakers looked for their friend but could not find him and notified authorities.

The Bonner Count Sheriff's Department organized a search party that included both crews on the ground and in the air. Their efforts Wednesday were unsuccessful and the search was delayed until the morning. Although crews did stay on the Dickensheet bridge through the night in case the missing man showed up.

The search resumed this morning and has continued all afternoon. If unsuccessful today, crews will resume the search when water conditions become better.

The man was not identified by authorities Thursday afternoon due to family not yet being notified. He is described only as a 45-years-old and from Spokane.
