The Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency needs your help to keep the air clean.
SPOKANE, Wash. - Smog comes with nice weather here in Spokane and the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency needs your help to keep the air clean.
Officials say that when the weather gets nice, above 90 degrees and a calm day, the air quality plummets. Smog is mostly made up of a pollutant called ozone. This is not the same as the "good ozone" which is above the earth's surface that protects us from the sun. This is "bad ozone", or ground level ozone.
But, the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency said that there is something that you can do to help. Try to cut down on the amount of gas you use during these hot days. If you do have to fill up, make sure you fill up your tank after seven o'clock p.m. If you have to mow the lawn, do that after the heat of the day as well.
