SWX to Air Tough Rhino Mud Run Special

Updated:

The Tough Rhino Mud Run last month in Richland was the first of its kind to hit the Tri-Cities. That alone was reason enough to get SWX to send a slough of cameras along the 5k course.

But then there were the obstacles. And the mud. Even better.

The participants – and there were plenty of them – ran, climbed, got down and dirty at Horn Rapids Park. The Rhino Mud Run, like other races like them, is aimed not at the serious runner, rather at the casual couch-sitter looking to get out and try something different.

Yeah, it was different, alright.

"It was challenging, it was challenging, for sure," said one competitor after the race. "We'll be ready for the next time. Oh yea, very challenging."

"I've seen races kind of like this, not in this area, and I just thought we need one of these," said race organizer Brandon Lott from NW Endurance Sports. "People would like this. It appeals to a large audience of people. Not just the runners or people who work out, but people who just want to get off the couch and go have fun and get dirty."

SWX positioned a total of nine cameras along the race course, throwing more resources at the event than any other media outlet. The results were stunning if not downright amusing. What resulted was a one-hour special set to air Tuesday night at 7 and Thursday at 8 p.m.
