One man's misfortune is another man's opportunity. Or something like that. However you want to look at it, former Eastern Washington quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has moved up the pecking order in the Canadian Football League.

Mitchell was moved into the backup role in Calgary after the Stampeders' No. 1 guy, Drew Tate, went down with a shoulder injury. The No. 2 QB, Kevin Glenn, was named the starter, and Brad Sinopoli, the man Mitchell beat out for the No. 3 position in camp, was brought back on Monday… to be the No. 3 guy.

Mitchell one of the greats in Eastern Washington history, told the Calgary Herald he's ready for anything. And he means anything.

"I always prepare like I'm the starter, just trying to get in there during practice and getting as many reps as I can," he told the newspaper. "Obviously, the guys ahead of you are going to get their reps, but you need to take those mental reps. Stand in there, watch the play, watch the defence, study even more and be that much more ready."

Mitchell will be the backup Saturday when the Stampeders play Thursday at Montreal.

Winning one Big Sky Championship is a huge accomplishment and winning two is unforgettable, but winning five is downright unreal. And writing about his own exploits is even tougher.
