UPDATE: Early Sunday morning Spokane Valley Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting call near the 15000 block of East Mission in Spokane Valley. When deputies arrived, assisted by the Washington State Patrol and Liberty Lake Police, they observed several people at the location.

They were told a fight broke out during a party at the location and one of the males involved started firing a pistol and left in a vehicle prior to the deputy's arrival. Within minutes, deputies who were responding to the scene, observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle in the area of Pines and Cherry Road.

They stopped the vehicle at Pines Road and Maribeau Parkway and detained the two male occupants. Spokane County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes detectives were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. During the investigation, information was gained which identified 24-year-old, Edgar Ambriz Viveros as the suspect who fired the pistol.

Ambriz Viveros was arrested and transported to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office and booked for First Degree Assault with a Firearm, a felony. One person sustained a cut or cuts to his hand from broken glass during the fight but no one was injured by the gunfire. The firearm, a semi automatic, .45 caliber Sig Sauer was recovered at the scene of the party.

PREVIOUS STORY

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - The Spokane Valley Police Department and the Spokane County Sheriff's Department are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning near the intersection of Mission and Progress just off of Sullivan.

The Sheriff's Department says it happened around 5:00AM when an argument at a large house party got out of control and someone pulled a gun. Before the suspect could fire the weapon at his intended target, other partygoers were able to wrestle it away from him. Two shots were fired, but no one was hit. The suspect fled the scene with another person in a vehicle, but deputies were able to locate them and take them into custody a short time later.

Detectives interviewed about 25 witnesses and said there was a language barrier, so it took a little bit longer than expected. They did say all the witnesses are cooperating at this time.
