Saquan Sends Spokane to Three-Game Sweep

Spokane, WA - The Spokane Indians didn't get mad...they got even. A week after being swept by the Dust Devils on the road, the Indians returned the favor at Avista Stadium, finishing off the three game set against Tri-City with a 7-5 win.

The team exacted their revenge on the Dust Devils thanks to a sensational night from outfielder Saquan Johnson, who tripled in a run in the second and followed that up with a two-run home run over the Supercuts sign in the bottom of the third. The 19-year-old from Elizabethtown, NC picked up four hits in the series and also chipped in three RBI and a stolen base.

Spokane's offense seems to be firing on all cylinders as the season's second half approaches, amassing 28 hits in the series, including base knocks from Johnson, Gabriel Roa, Royce Bolinger, Cam Schiller and Joe Maloney in tonight's win.

Starter Jose Valdespina held the Dust Devils to just two runs and two hits over four frames, and John Kukuruda (2-1) picked up the win in relief. Southpaw Joseph Burns pitched a scoreless ninth to notch his first save of the season and lower his microscopic ERA to 0.57.

The Indians embark on an eight-game road trip starting tomorrow with five games in Vancouver and three games in Tri-City.
