'Mad Men' & 'American Horror' Lead List Of Emmy Nominations

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Emmy nominations are out and "Mad Men" and "American Horror Story" are leading the pack.  

"Mad Men" received 17 Emmy nominations Thursday and a chance to set a record as the most-honored drama series in TV history. Stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss are up for lead acting honors.

The miniseries "American Horror Story" received a matching 17 awards, including an acting nod for star Connie Britton.

Other leading nominees include drama series "Downton Abbey" and two miniseries, "Hatfields & McCoys" and "Hemingway & Gellhorn."

Nominees in major categories for the 2012 Emmy Awards announced Thursday by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences:

Drama Series: "Boardwalk Empire," HBO; "Breaking Bad," AMC; "Downton Abbey," PBS; "Game of Thrones," HBO; "Homeland," Showtime; "Mad Men," AMC.

Comedy Series: "The Big Bang Theory," CBS; "Curb Your Enthusiasm," HBO; "Girls," HBO; "Modern Family," ABC; "30 Rock," NBC; "Veep," HBO.
