Marshawn Lynch Apologizes After DUI Arrest

Updated:

Marshawn Lynch, charged with DUI after being stopped by police in California last week, made a public apology on Friday.

The Seattle Seahawks running back issued a statement through the team, saying he apologizes for "the negative attention resulting from his recent actions."

Lynch is charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped weaving on I-880 in the Oakland area Saturday morning. Police reports say he nearly crashed into other vehicles twice before being pulled over around 3:20 a.m.

In his statement published on the Seahawks website, Lynch said:

"This is not the type of community leader I have been over the last two years or the one I'm striving to become. I want to assure everyone that I will work to better and look forward to a very exciting, and very successful season with the Seattle Seahawks."
