New Scam Targeting Local Spokane Area Businesses

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Better Business Bureau put out a warning on Wednesday to businesses across Eastern WA, North Idaho, and Montana. According to the BBB, a California-based business named US Telecom has been mailing misleading invoices to businesses. The BBB even received one of the phony bills for $425.

The BBB says the invoices are actually solicitations for US Telecom services. United State Postal Service regulations require that mailers like these be marked as solicitations. Nowhere on the invoice does it state that it is a solicitation.

US Telecom has received 516 complaints in the past 36 months. More than 200 of those complaints went unanswered.
