SPOKANE, Wash. On Friday morning a Spokane County Sheriff's Corrections Deputy was making his scheduled cell checks when he discovered an inmate in his jail cell, unresponsive.
It happened shortly after 8:30 a.m.
Corrections Deputies immediately began CPR on the non-responsive inmate inside the cell. The deputies continued CPR on the inmate until medics arrive on scene.
Medics were able to establish a pulse on the inmate and transported him to a local hospital. Spokane County jail personnel was contacted by the hospital approximately three hours after the incident. The hospital advised the inmate had no brain activity and was requesting next of kin information.
The Spokane County Sheriff's Office Investigative Unit is currently at the jail investigating the incident.
