Idaho Man Gets Prison Following 7th DUI

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - A 44-year-old Caldwell man with seven convictions for driving under the influence has been sentenced to ten years in prison.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/OmjQBy) that Shawn Michael Herring was sentenced Friday for his sixth and seventh DUIs in Third District Court.

Judge Susan Wiebe sentenced Herring to 10 years for each of the DUIs and ordered he serve a minimum of five years, with the sentences to run concurrently.

She also ordered an ignition interlock system if his license is ever reinstated.

Wiebe told Herring the prison sentence was needed because probation hadn't worked.

Herring received his first DUI in 1990 at age 22.
