The Zak Charity Open teed off Monday at Manito and Spokane Country Club with the goal of earning even more money than it did last year.
All of the proceeds from the event benefit local charities that help children and their families. One of those charities is the Rypien Foundation, which helps families of children with cancer. The two-day tournament also gives money to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Spokane County.
The Zak Charity golf tournament has raised more than $2 million since it began in 1999.
