SPOKANE, Wash. - Concealed weapons permits applications are up across the country, and the Inland Northwest is no different.
Records specialists with Spokane police tell KHQ that the last few weeks have been especially hectic, and they say it is because of the Colorado movie theater shooting.
On a typical Monday, the process about 30 requests and background checks for concealed pistol license.
The Monday morning after the shooting in Colorado, they had over 180.
A number of retailers in Coeur d'Alene are reporting a rise in gun sales as well, some as high as 30%
Official with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department say they are also processing more applications for concealed carry permits this year compared to in 2011.
In the state of Washington, CPL applicants need a photo ID and $52.50 dollars for a background check which is usually completed within 30 days.
