SPOKANE, Wash. -
Despite high school football season still a few weeks away, Mead senior Danny Mattingly is already looking forward to next fall. That is when he will begin his collegiate career at the legendary Notre Dame.
"I am so excited right now, you can't even believe it," Mattingly told SWX's Michelle Dapper on SWX Tonight this week.
He visited South Bend before making his official announcement in June, and said Indians reminded him of Spokane in a way.
"South Bend is a small town built around the school, but it's just a great place – it's going to be a fun place to go to school," he said.
He chose Notre Dame because he said the program fits his style of play, and he felt comfortable with the coaches. And then there's the tradition – which is why he chose the Fighting Irish over Oregon.
