CHENEY, Wash. -

You might not have noticed it if you weren't looking for it. But walking amongst the players at the first day of fall camp in Cheney was a familiar face. Familiar to Eastern Washington fans, and familiar to Spokane Shock fans.

Erik Meyer.

Meyer, the former EWU quarterback who sat out all but one game for the Shock this season because of injury, is helping the coaching staff at Eastern Washington this year.

His knowledge of the game will surely be appreciated. He won the Walter Payton Award in 2005, the award given to the top offensive player in the NCAA D-IAA. He passed for more than 10,000 yards at EWU, broke eight career records, five single-season marks and one single-game record.

And now he brings his experience to Cheney.

Welcome back, Mr. Meyer.
